Berg Furniture is here!

We'll the baby furniture is finally here! The room was painted last weekend, just in time for the furniture to get here. Wanna see it??? It's soooo pretty and worth the money :) We are loving it.

This is the Berg Furniture Crib.
It's 4-in-1. I love how sturdy it is.
Not at all flimsy like the one's we are supposed to get from Target or Walmart.

This is the dresser with hutch.
I love love the extra drawers and the handle and the hutch...everything about it.
If I could only have this for myself :(
JJ said, it is mine since I will be spending lots of time in the nursery room, yeah right!

The theme for the nursery was already here as well. As you can see, I alreay put the bedding's in the crib, just to see how it would look like. JJ already had the ceiling sculpture up and he is diggin' it. I will have to post another blog with pictures when everything is final.

8th visit to a Midwife

I just got back from my twice a week visit to my midwife. I hated the idea that I had to drive when its raining. One its hard to see the road and two, it scares me that some do stupid things when the weather is bad. Lucky I don't have to drive very far. JJ was supposed to meet me up at the clinic but he got stuck with heavy traffic. He arrived right when was ready to leave the clinic, oh well :) I still appreciate the effort.

So how am I doing and the baby? So far so good! Never had a problem yet and I hope it continues to be this way. Had my usual checkup routine which was to check my weight gain, my bp was 116/60 and the baby's heartbeat was 150bmp. It looks like the baby managed to maintain from last visit.

I was handed some paperworks to fill up this time. First was, a Fetal Movement Chart - since I have reached the 32nd weeks of my pregnancy, I am supposed to do a daily dairy of the baby's movements. It is supposed to be done an hour after breakfast or an hour after dinner. I have to do a mark for each movement (flutters as well as kicks). It instructed me to lie on my side during the entire time and once I reached 6 movements, I may stop. If in any case the number of movements be fewer than 4 in an hour, I can drink an 8 oz of orange juice, wait for 20 minutes and repeat the evaluation in the next hour.

They also gave me a PWH's Pediatrician Referral List, an FMLA/Disability paperwork. However, since I am not working at the moment, JJ can make use of it.The most important paperwork they gave me was a Maternity Pre-registration from the hospital I am planning to deliver at.

The Midwife did the usual check and measurement of my belly and said it was looking good. I was able to discuss with her the use of the Snoogle Maternity Pillow. The Mommie's at the forum I am frequently visiting at, raved a lot about this. It is supposed to help prego's get comfortable while sleeping. My midwife did not really recommend it which I am thankful of. It seems like we share the same principles and that's what I love about her, she is super duper nice as well. One reason is, it is expensive at a price a little more than $50. Second, you ended up loosing it in the middle of tossing and turning and three, it only comes in one size and everyone has different body type which is true! Well for me, I only have about 50+ days to go and we have a lot of extra pillows that are just sitting around the corner . I might as well make use of them! I was also concern that there are times that I woke up and I am on my back. It freaks me out because I am supposed to avoid this because the weight of the uterus will press on the major veins returning blood to my heart. It will make me feel very faint and will reduce the blood supply to my baby. The good thing is, she was not that concern like I do. She told me to just switch to my right or left side. Finally, I asked her about some concerns of Mommies using the Johnson and Johnson's product. I know Mommies have been using their products to their kids for years and Johnson and Johnsons are a reputable company. She was kind of shocked by it and apparently has not read it yet. She promised to check on it and will tell me jer thoughts about it on my next visit. Well, apparently, the company I am talking about is using cancer-causing chemicals that are found in childrens bath products.

7th Visit to a Midwife

Just a little update about my quick visit to a midwife:

Did a weight check. I did not get to find out how much I gained within 2 weeks.

BP: 110/64
Baby Heart Beat: 150bpm

The midwife told me about my result for the glucose test. And...Yes! I pass it! Wohooo! It is such as relief that I don't have to do the grueling 3 hour test. She also told me that my iron level is doing perfectly well. The passing score was 11 and I was at 10.9 based on the results of my previous blood test. To me was kinda surprising. I thought that they will give me a hard time and would found out that I am actually not doing what I am supposed to be doing. Example: I am supposed to be taking iron supplement 3x a day which is very hard. OK I admit, I hate taking meds! I don't know why but taking meds 3x a day is just too much. I promise though, I try not to miss the folic acid vitamin because that is very important. I think I just missed it twice since the beginning :)

Overall, visit was pretty quick and I am thankful that JJ managed to meet me at the clinic. Will update in the next 2 weeks!

Edit: I almost forgot about this but I did asked the midwife to check the position of the baby. She tried to measure my belly at first and then felt the baby. He is in vertex position right now which means the baby is head down and curled in the "fetal position,". His head is in my pelvis and his chin to his chest. This is considered the optimal position for birth. But she also told me not to worry about it for now since the baby can still move at this stage. By the time I am at 38 or 39th weeks they will have to check if the baby is on the right position...so yayy! Good job baby!
